UX Designer

Purpose of Role:
- Creation and development of customer centred experiences within the Personal & Business Banking Transformation Programme using
- Delivering consistent, efficient and enjoyable user experience designs using the RBS Experience Design framework
Responsibilities:
- Apply customer led design methodologies and tools within a common UX/design framework and practice
- Identify gaps in user insight and develop strategies/proposals for filling these gaps
- Undertake user research/testing (both formal and on an ad hoc basis) using a variety of techniques and tools
- Analyse insights from multiple sources to understand and empathise with customer and colleagues needs in order to craft effective and innovative customer/user journeys
- Develop high level storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas – tell a compelling story
- Design solutions that employ and improve the RBS Experience Design Language (principles, standards, design patterns and styles centred around best practice, consistency and re-use)
- Contribute to the ongoing development, enhancement and embedding of the RBS Experience Design Language and Customer Led Design framework
- Work with Agile project teams and key stakeholders to develop and deliver user centred solutions within project timeframes and objectives
- Conduct content and application audits including gauging the usability of new and existing products and making constructive suggestions for change
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment with other project activities, incorporate new patterns and contribute to the development of the Experience Design Language
- Develop elements of UI specifications and design standards/guidelines
- Champion the use of appropriate UX and UCD solutions, principles and processes
- Collaborate with project teams and colleagues to identify issues, shape user journeys and identify options for delivering appropriate solutions for customers.
- Communicate with key stakeholders on User Experience issues
- Deliver to our values and The Code, keeping the right outcome for customers front and centre whilst adhering to our risks and regulatory needs.
Requirements:
- Significant experience in User Centred Design process background (including testing and research) with proven scenario development skills and interaction design skills. You have a portfolio demonstrating both creative thinking and the delivery of solid UI design solutions.
- An eye for visual interaction details, excellent creative skills, excellent verbal skills, and an ability to think creatively & laterally.
- Disciplined approach to user centred design
- Proficient with a range of interaction design and visualization tools (e.g. Axure, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across all levels of an organisation with an ability to influence key stakeholders
- Friendly and inclusive attitude towards colleagues and emphasis on team dynamics
- Delivery focused with good time management skills
- Background in Human Computer Interaction or related field is desirable
- Experience of designing for mobile and or touch devices
- Practical understanding of responsive and adaptive design
- Practical experience of Agile delivery methods and teams preferred
