We are on the hunt for an experienced UX and UI Designer to join a London based AI software consultancy – Curvestone to work as part of our cross-functional Agile team of consultants, developers and AI experts.

The main goal is to create innovative digital products across a variety of industries in areas of Intelligent Automation, Machine Learning, and new venture building.

Curvestone is an automation and Machine Learning consultancy operating from London and New York (plus an engineering office in Gdańsk, Poland). They work with scale-ups and large corporations to launch solutions by validating problems, speccing ideas, and building great products. Curvestone stays on top of the latest advancements in technology in order to solve an ever-increasing range of challenges.

They like doing things differently and they perform in autonomous cross-functional “pizza-teams” made up of consultants, designers, engineers, and domain experts. They join together and make ideas come to life, embracing Agile Sprint methodology.

After this extra engaging and inspirational intro let’s get down to business 🙂

What will you do:

  • Work closely with clients and stakeholders to lead design projects across the entire life cycle from ideation to launch.

  • Defining interaction models, user task flows, and UI specifications for new and existing systems.

  • Communicating scenarios, end-to-end experiences, interaction models, and screen designs to assist developers and stakeholders involved with a product.

  • Developing and maintaining both low and high fidelity wireframes and prototypes, for a range of projects across different industries.

  • Partner closely with our engineers to realise your designs, and design with development in mind.

Requirements:

  • 2 – 4 years of product design experience

  • Strong communication skills are a must to advise our clients on UX best practices, understand briefs and requirements, as well as helping to create these yourself.

  • Experience working with Figma (or similar prototyping tool) to produce high quality user flows and application prototypes.

  • Knowledge of core ethnographic design principles, and an ability to utilise this knowledge to produce user-centred design solutions.

  • An aptitude for using a logical, step-by-step approach to ensure designs are user friendly and understandable for end-users.

  • Experience designing simple and intuitive user interfaces, user journeys, and the ability to create wireframes and high fidelity prototypes.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment where you will be managing your own time and workload.

  • Awareness of how software interfaces are built. You don’t need to be an expert, just fluent enough to collaborate with engineers, and know what’s possible with frontend technologies.

  • Willingness to learn about machine learning and automation.

Mindset:

  • Have a broad understanding of the concept of the minimum viable product (MVP).

  • Passionate about technology, product, user experience, and building high-quality solutions.

  • Ability to work independently, research the latest technologies and plan your own solutions to problems.

  • Itching to provide recommendations for continuous improvement, including tools and technologies.

  • An understanding that our work reaches beyond tech. You have the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of project managers, consultants, designers, and developers.

  • You get excited about solving head-scratching, life-affirming problems, and a thrill out of change.

  • You put the user at the heart of everything you do, and that empathy drives every decision you make.

Tools Used:

  • Design: Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Miro

  • Wireframing: Balsamiq or Figma

  • Prototyping: Figma or Adobe XD

  • Slack: Internal and external communication on projects

  • Asana: Managing complex timelines and pipelines

  • Jira: Managing the individual tasks and stories within each project

  • Google Slides: Specifications and feedback

  • Excel/Google Sheets

+ Bonus Points:

  • Additional skills (like 3D modelling, video editing, after effects, etc.)

  • Experience creating product roadmaps and breaking down large projects into manageable design and development sprints.

  • Experience visualizing complex data.

  • Experience with Material Design, and designing for platforms built in React.

  • Any other creative experience is a big plus e.g. video editing, photography etc.

  • Solid understanding of Scrum and Agile development.
