About you
You are passionate about user experience – not only the craft but the process and the relationships key to being successful as a design leader. You bring energy, enthusiasm, and a natural curiosity to your work. You’re relentless in your drive for UX excellence but recognize perfection never comes easily or in the first go.
You want to be a part of a leadership team – to partner with your peers to improve the UX organization effectiveness and team member experience. Beyond just being a member, as a UX Leader of a remote product design group, you recognize the need to go the extra mile to build relationships with your stakeholders, cross-functional partners and UX Leader peers in the Design Group.
What we will look for you to do
Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with Product Management to continuously groom backlog features and provide thoughtful design vision and actionable plans for the roadmap
Be able to identify which roadmap items require design iterations and user research for us to generate insights on the customer “job to be done” and the mental models for the interactions we need to build for those jobs; Partner with User Researchers on the definition of research “learning objectives” for both generative and evaluative user research activities to directly inform the work your team is responsible for
Manage the workload of staff UX designers, ensuring all UX activities are sized appropriately and tracked in JIRA; providing on-going design and UX research task progress and status
Ensure the team thinks strategically about their work, striking a balance between speed to market and perfection, through regular design reviews, critiques, and checkpoints
Review usage analytics and user feedback to better understand user behavior and evaluate design effectiveness
Communicate with stakeholders, leadership, or other departments on release planning, status changes, or other team needs (e.g. capacity planning for design resource optimization)
Ensure ongoing alignment with the Equinix design system
Participate in UAT and QA sessions to ensure design quality
Facilitate UX workshops and team retrospectives
Proactively contribute to the betterment of the design organization through thoughtful leadership and team culture development
Coach and mentor your people – advocate for them and ensure they are set up for success
Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in human-computer interaction, experience design, or similar for software products
3+ years in a supervisory role leading UX designers
Deep understanding of design thinking principles
Ability to articulate complex concepts into clear design direction
Familiarity with user research practices
Bachelor’s degree required
