In order to maintain our position as the leading online jobsite, StepStone is looking for a lead to our growing usability department.

The candidate must be a strategic, independent, self-motivated, creative professional, capable of adapting quickly to a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Managing the User Experience team in our Polish Office
Collaborating with international project teams to define strategy, site architecture and navigation, map out user flow and experience, and define high-level interaction

Other Responsibilities

Lead a team of Interface Designers, Information Architects and UX Generalists to develop wireframes, behavioural specifications and personas
Keep the interface beautiful and easy to use. Direct the visual appearance of all new features and enhancements on our software application
Initiate, suggest, and spearhead major UI re-factorings for a more intuitive user-experience
Design elegant solutions to complex workflows. Design things that people will talk about
Act as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centred perspective
Act as “go to” with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards. Use research-related services, theories and methods to support your recommendations
Take the initiative in providing input and feedback in both departmental discussions and on issues relating to other departments

Qualifications:

Minimum 5+ years directly related information design and strategy experience
Degree work in human factors, HCI, information design, industrial design, or related area strongly preferred
2+ years of experience in a managerial role
Excellent people leadership, creative, and analytical skills
Ability to work with design team in a collaborative, dynamic environment
Strong knowledge of site design and usability principles, issues, and techniques
Previous experience designing complex Web sites
Ability to analyse customer needs and define strategies for meeting them
Ability to organize large bodies of information
Excellent written (i.e. writing, editing, and proofing) and oral communication skills
Strong client education skills
Executive-level presentation skills
Team-building skills
Excellent working relationships with people in a wide variety of functional areas
Regular travel to other office locations (Belgium, Germany..) required
