We are looking for an experienced usability and market researcher. Your insights will help the business understand opportunities and challenges for growing Booking.com.

Most of your advice and proposals will be centered on the optimization of User Experience for our site and apps.  Therefore you need to have a strong usability background and excellent business awareness. Your experience in market research will help you to identify potential opportunities for improving the complete book and travel experience for all our user types.

You will be responsible for deciding what method to use, which data to capture, and how to interpret and communicate the results to your colleagues. Your personal toolkit is composed of a variety of methods, including, but not limited to, focus groups, traditional one-on-one usability interviews, surveys, and data analysis. You will focus on short-term conversion, commission, and long-term customer loyalty.

You will be traveling regularly across the world to conduct researches. Day-to-day you will be working with usability and analytics specialists, product owners, designers and developers. This position is located in our headquarters based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Your background

You have at least 2-3 years of (hands-on) qualitative user and usability research experience within eCommerce, embedded in more extensive general market research experience. These are basic criteria that have to be met in order to match the job requirements.

Furthermore we’re looking for the following: as you will apply mainly qualitative research methods, your background is ideally in psychology, sociology, marketing or interaction design. You must also be familiar with quantitative research, things like A/B testing et cetera. You’re comfortable working with numbers and know when research data is statistically reliable. In other words: you are data driven. You are persuasive without being authoritative. You know how to influence a wide variety of audiences and bring across your findings in a pleasant yet convincing way.

You have extensive experience in line with the above, and within an eCommerce environment. You can hit the ground running within a very dynamic, vibrant, international and innovative environment. While doing so, you can maintain a no-nonsense attitude and show your seniority by taking responsibility and act pro-actively. Ultimately, you truly care about improving our user’s experience.
